The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course gives you the practical skills and confidence to recognise an emergency, respond quickly and provide essential first aid until professional medical help arrives.

Whether you need first aid training for work, volunteering, sport or everyday life, this nationally recognised course prepares you to stay calm, take control and help when it matters most. The unit applies across a wide range of workplace and community settings.

What You’ll Learn

This practical, hands on course will teach you how to:

• Recognise and assess an emergency situation
• Keep yourself, the casualty and others safe
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation—CPR
• Use an automated external defibrillator—AED
• Place an unconscious breathing casualty into the recovery position
• Manage bleeding, shock, burns and wounds
• Respond to choking and breathing emergencies
• Assist with fractures, sprains and soft-tissue injuries
• Recognise and respond to medical emergencies
• Manage allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
• Respond to bites, stings, poisoning and exposure incidents
• Communicate effectively with emergency services
• Accurately report and document a first aid incident

Training is delivered in line with guidelines established by the Australian Resuscitation Council and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
